A mattress foundation goes under the mattress and is typically covered in some type of soft material. It elevates the sleeping surface off the floor and provides support for multiple types of mattresses. With a mattress foundation, individuals don’t have to worry about their mattress sagging, but it can make the mattress feel firmer.
